Match info: Saturday’s game will not be broadcast live. As always, you can also follow it in our live match FB Page, or via @ShootsampeiBisak on Twitter.
Scene-setter: Sarawak are back in action on away turf following Vietnam Tour 2016. Datuk K Rajagobal is determined to ensure his side mount a good challenge after securing a low slot last term but PDRM FA are likely to be difficult opening-day opponents.
Form guide: The trip to the Vietnam was largely successful. A confident 1-0 win over Ho Chi Minh FC was the highlight, with Dong Nai FC and Phuoc Binh also beaten. Earlier friendly matches in peninsular, Sarawak beat PKNS FC 2-1, lost 0-2 to Selangor.
The Cops catastrophically beaten 3-6 to Air Asia FC despite goals by Ali Asfaq & Safuwan Baharuddin (2 goals). PDRM also beaten 0-2 by Terengganu, drew 2-2 with Melaka United – goal scored by Safuwan Baharuddin & Safiq Jamal.
Team news: While Datuk K Rajagobal confirmed his squad has few injuries, he ruled out Ronny Harun, Shahrol Saperi and Tommy Mawat. He has previously suggested Hairol Mokhtar, Davide Grassi, Ramesh Lai and Riduwan Ma’on will operate in defence. The boss stuck to similar starting line-ups in pre-season with Rodney Calvin likely to partner Junior Aparecido in midfield while Ashri Chu Chu and Partiban/Syahrul Azwari are two wingers to be vital part for the team. Gilmar & Makeche will lead upfront which both player is highly rated for their past performance with previous club.
Syahrul Azwari came also at the last moment out of his “holidays” so I don’t think he is fit enough. Michael Horny have to build the fitness he needs.
Quote/unquote: “I don’t think you can look past the first game as it’s really important. Last season we drew 3-3 to Felda United at away and, after that, we had a few bad results so we know how important the PDRM game is. We’re ready and that’s our main focus. We have to make sure we concentrate 100 per cent on Saturday.” Admin SSBisak.
Opposition preview: “They are very dangerous team in set piece. Safuwan Baharuddin scored almost in every game during The Cops friendly matches. Ashfaq Ali remain as the potential danger threat while Andrezinho will orchestrate the PDRM attacking.” Admin SSBisak.
Star man: Safuwan Baharuddin who signed from Lions XII will become the major threat for Sarawak defence. He capable to leap very high and dangerous during set pieces. PDRM also sign Brazillian midfielder – Andrezinho who played with JDT in 2013.
Sub-plot: Syahrul Azwari return to the squad after controversy transfer from Pamoga Qu Puteh The Red Warrios. The striker partner between Gilmar & Ndumba Makeche upfront are expected to solves Sarawak scoring problem last season. Stadium Hang Jebat will welcome a first chance to see the new signings in action and the atmosphere should be electric.
SSBisak Prediction: Sarawak will win 3-1 against PDRM FA 😉
